Day Trip Itinerary

05:30 AM – Pick-up from Arusha / Karatu

  • Early morning departure from your hotel or lodge.

  • Enjoy scenic views along the way as you drive through the lush highlands of Tanzania.

  • Optional stop at Ngorongoro Gate for registration and a quick refresh.


07:30 AM – Arrival at Ngorongoro Crater Rim

  • Pause for panoramic views of the crater from the rim—ideal photo opportunity!

  • Brief introduction to the geological and ecological importance of the caldera.


08:00 AM – Descend into the Crater for Game Drive

  • Begin your descent (610 meters) to the crater floor.

  • Explore diverse habitats including lakes, grasslands, forests, and swamps.

  • Expect to see elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, wildebeest, warthogs, and possibly the endangered black rhino.

  • Bird lovers will enjoy sightings of flamingos, crowned cranes, and raptors.


12:30 PM – Picnic Lunch at Hippo Pool

  • Stop at a designated picnic site near a hippo-filled waterhole.

  • Enjoy your packed lunch surrounded by nature and the sounds of the wild.


01:30 PM – Afternoon Game Drive

  • Continue your search for wildlife and explore less crowded corners of the crater.

  • Visit Lake Magadi and Lerai Forest, where lions and elephants are often spotted.


03:30 PM – Ascend from the Crater & Begin Return Journey

  • Slowly make your way up the inner wall of the crater.

  • Final chance to photograph wildlife or scenery along the crater rim.


05:30–06:30 PM – Drop-off at Your Lodge / Arusha

  • Arrive back at your accommodation, filled with stories and photos of your adventure.
